I have decided to start sharing some of my experiences about being the mom of twins. There have been so many comical, crazy, and great things that have happened in the last 8 months of my life and I want to start sharing them because they are just to good to keep in. Hopefully some of you can relate whether your a mom of twins or just a mom in general. Its amazing the things we do...
Life of a twin mom - Blog 1
So this week has definitely been one of the most interesting weeks of my life. Monday morning started out as any normal day except for that I woke up thinking I don't want to stay in the house today. I wanted to get out. So I set up a playdate with my friend Julie and her twins. We were going to meet at the park at 2. So the babies ate breakfast like any other normal day, took baths, and then went down for their morning nap. Karter woke up first so I fed him lunch and we played until Bella woke up. By that time Chad was home for lunch and I brought Bella out and set her in her highchair. She kind of burped weird before and it was one where she must have spit up a little but swallowed it. Anyway she is in her highchair and I went to grab a bib when all of the sudden I hear Chad say "Woah, what is going on?" So I rush in and she is throwing up all over. It was so sad but I was thinking it must have been the burp from before and it made her gag and throw everything up. So we take her out and get everything cleaned up and then the dumb mom I am tried to feed her because I'm thinking she just threw everything up so she must be hungry and I'm still thinking it was the burp that made her throw up. Well she is sitting on the floor and throws up again all over her outfit and blanket. So take two with the cleaning up and changing her. So by this time mother instincts have kicked in and I canceled my playdate because obviously I can't take her out. In the mean time Bella is still acting fine. Not sick still just her normal self. Well I called the doctor and he said to not worry about solids but try to get liquids down her so she doesn't get dehydrated. So I tried to feed her again and same thing. She just threw it up. SO sad! By this time she was acting very sleepy and obviously not feeling good so she went down for a nap. When Chad got home from work I decided to go get some ice chips and he had brought home some pedialyte. I was going to take Karter with me and right when I was getting ready to load him he threw up all over everything. I was like "oh my gosh what have I fed my babies to make them be so sick??" I felt so bad. Well come to find out the 24 hour flu is going around and we had all been exposed. So this week has consisted of throw up and diareah.
So now I'm finally getting to the point of this blog.. Life a twin mom... Tuesday morning me and the babies were laying on my bed. I was feeding them pedialyte trying to keep them hydrated and it just wasn't enough for Bella so I decided to feed her a bottle. Big mistake. She drank about four ounces and back up it came. All over me, all over her, all over my bed, and then Karter decided it looked fun and rolled into it and is trying to play in it. So here we are all three of us covered in throw up and two of them obviously completely helpless so I do my best to get us cleaned up. A little bit later I was trying to get Karter down for a nap on my bed again decided to hurry and chang him. While I was grabbing the diaper he decided to pee all over himself, the bed and me. So here I go again getting him cleaned up and myself and changing the sheets for the fortieth time. Well he was still tired so I layed by him again and all of the sudden he's throwing up. So once again it got all over him, me, Bella (because dumb me had her laying by him), and the bed. At this point in time the only thing I could do was cry. Needless to say it was a crazy week. I've been stuck in the house all week and last night I came down with this amazing flu. So after a lot of laundry and pedialyte I think we've made it through this.
Oh by the way the babies are happy and healthy now. Thank goodness! Oh and also I need to thank my amazing husband for helping out so much and for taking care of me and the twins while I've been sick.
